How does the AI agent send messages through the WhatsApp Business API?

The agent uses Meta's Graph API to send messages. For active conversations within the 24-hour window, it sends free-form text, media, interactive buttons, or list messages. For outbound or expired-window messages, it uses pre-approved template messages. All messaging goes through your registered Phone Number ID.

What credentials does Tars need for the WhatsApp integration?

Tars requires three items: your Auth Token from the Facebook Developer Console, your Phone Number ID from the WhatsApp API Setup page, and the Graph API base URL (defaults to https://graph.facebook.com/v22.0). These authenticate all messaging requests through your WhatsApp Business Account.

Can the agent send images, videos, and documents on WhatsApp?

Yes. The agent supports sending images (JPEG, PNG up to 5MB), videos (MP4, 3GPP up to 16MB), audio (AAC, MP3, OGG up to 16MB), documents (PDF, DOCX up to 100MB), and stickers (WebP up to 500KB). Media can be sent by URL or by uploading and using a media ID.

Does Tars store WhatsApp message content or customer phone numbers?

No. Tars sends messages through Meta's API in real time. Message content, customer phone numbers, and conversation histories remain on WhatsApp's infrastructure. Tars does not maintain a separate database of your messaging data or contact information.
