How does the AI agent create a mailing list in Sendlane?

The agent uses the Create List endpoint with required fields: list name, sender name, sender email, physical address (street, city, state, zip, country), and a permission reminder for email footers. You can also enable double opt-in. The list appears in your Sendlane account immediately and is ready for subscriber additions.

Can the agent tag subscribers based on conversation behavior?

Yes. The agent creates tags via the Tag Create endpoint and assigns them to subscriber profiles. When a shopper discusses a specific product category or expresses purchase intent during a chat, the agent applies relevant tags. These tags trigger Sendlane automation workflows like targeted drip campaigns.

What campaign information can the agent retrieve?

The agent fetches a paginated list of email campaigns including their names, statuses, and identifiers. You can specify page numbers and results per page (default 30). This provides an at-a-glance view of campaign activity without navigating the Sendlane dashboard.

Does Tars store subscriber data from Sendlane?

No. All subscriber information is managed directly in Sendlane through API calls during conversations. Tars does not maintain a separate copy of your mailing lists, tags, or campaign data. Contact details and list memberships remain exclusively in your Sendlane account.

What authentication credentials does the Sendlane integration need?

You need three credentials: your Sendlane account subdomain (used to construct the API base URL), your API key, and your hash key. All three are found in the Sendlane dashboard under account settings. Enter them once in the Tars dashboard during tool setup.

Can the agent manage custom fields for subscriber segmentation?

The agent retrieves all custom fields defined in your Sendlane account, including field names, types, and IDs. This metadata lets the agent map conversation data to the correct subscriber properties. Custom field values captured during chats enable precise segmentation in your automation workflows.

How is this different from using Sendlane's Shopify integration directly?

Sendlane's native Shopify integration syncs purchase data passively. Can the agent delete a list and what happens to subscribers?

The agent deletes a mailing list by its ID using the List Delete endpoint. Subscribers on that list are not removed from your Sendlane account, they simply lose that list association. Their data, tags, and other list memberships remain intact. Always verify the list ID before deletion.
