How does the AI agent send emails through Resend?

The agent calls Resend's Send Email API with the recipient, sender address, subject line, and HTML or plain text body. It supports CC, BCC, reply-to addresses, and custom headers. The email is sent from your verified domain, maintaining your brand identity.

Can the agent schedule emails for future delivery?

Yes. When sending an email, the agent passes a scheduled_at parameter in ISO 8601 format. The email queues in Resend and delivers at the specified time. The agent can also update the schedule or cancel the email entirely before it sends.

What Resend API key permissions does Tars need?

Tars needs a Resend API key with permissions to send emails, manage domains, and manage audiences and contacts. Generate this key from your Resend dashboard under API Keys. You control the scope and can create a key specifically for the Tars integration.

Does Tars store email content or recipient data from Resend?

No. Email content is composed and sent in real time through Resend's API. Recipient addresses, message bodies, and audience data are not stored by Tars. All email records remain in your Resend dashboard where you have full visibility and control.

Can the agent manage contacts across multiple Resend audiences?

Yes. The agent can create, retrieve, and delete contacts within any audience in your Resend account. It uses the audience ID to target the correct list, so contacts get added to the right segment based on conversation context.

How is this different from using Resend with a marketing automation tool?

Marketing automation tools send emails based on predefined triggers and schedules. Tars sends emails based on live conversation context. The AI agent decides when an email is needed based on what the customer says, not a static workflow. This makes transactional messaging reactive and personal.

What happens if the sending domain is not verified?

The agent can trigger domain verification through Resend's Verify Domain endpoint. If verification fails, the agent informs you of the issue and suggests checking your DNS records. Emails cannot be sent from unverified domains, matching Resend's standard security policy.

Can the agent cancel an email that has already been sent?

Only scheduled emails that have not yet been delivered can be canceled. The agent uses Resend's Cancel Email endpoint with the email ID. Once an email has been delivered, cancellation is not possible. The agent communicates this clearly if a cancellation attempt comes too late.
