Recall.ai supports Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, Slack Huddles, and GoTo Meeting. The agent deploys bots to any of these platforms using a single meeting URL. No separate configuration is needed per platform.

How does the AI agent deploy a meeting bot?

Share the meeting URL with the agent, and it calls Recall.ai's create bot endpoint. You can specify the bot name, recording mode (speaker view, gallery, or screen share), automatic leave settings, and whether to enable real-time transcription. The bot joins the meeting at the scheduled time or immediately.

What Recall.ai credentials does Tars need?

Tars requires your Recall.ai API key and region identifier. The API key provides access to bot management, recording controls, and chat message retrieval. You can generate and manage API keys from your Recall.ai dashboard.

Does Tars store meeting recordings or transcripts?

No. Tars interacts with the Recall.ai API to deploy bots, control recordings, and retrieve data. The actual recordings, transcripts, and chat messages are stored and managed by Recall.ai according to your account settings. Tars accesses this data in real time during conversations.

Can I control when the bot starts and stops recording?

Yes. The agent can start and stop recording at any point during the meeting using Recall.ai's recording control endpoints. This is useful for meetings where only certain segments should be captured, such as when sensitive topics arise. Each start command can also change the recording mode.

How is this different from using Zoom's or Teams' built-in recording?

Built-in recording requires the host to press record and works only on that specific platform. Recall.ai bots work across all supported platforms with a single API, provide real-time transcription, capture chat messages separately, and give your AI agent programmatic control over recording. You also get unified access regardless of which platform hosted the meeting.

Can the bot capture chat messages from the meeting?

Yes. The agent retrieves all chat messages read by the bot during the meeting, excluding messages sent by the bot itself. Messages include the sender name, content, and timestamp. This is useful for extracting shared links, action items, and key discussion points without reviewing the full recording.

What happens if the meeting host doesn't admit the bot from the waiting room?

Recall.ai bots support configurable timeout settings. If the bot is not admitted within the waiting room timeout period you specify, it leaves automatically. The agent can report this status and offer to retry or notify the meeting organizer to admit the bot.
