How does the AI agent generate images from Placid templates?

The agent passes dynamic data (text, image URLs, colors) into Placid template layers via the API. Placid renders the final visual server-side and returns a URL to the generated image. The agent shares this URL with the customer or stores it for downstream use. The design template stays reusable for future generations.

What formats can Placid generate through the agent?

Placid supports images (PNG, JPEG), PDFs, and videos. The agent can trigger generation of any format your templates support. For example, a single template design could produce both a social media image and a PDF certificate depending on the output format requested.

Can I design templates in Placid's editor and use them via the agent?

Yes. Design your templates in Placid's drag-and-drop editor with dynamic placeholders for text, images, and other elements. Once saved, the agent accesses those templates through the API and fills the placeholders with data from customer conversations. Design and automation stay separate but connected.

Does Tars store the generated visuals?

Tars does not permanently store generated visuals. Placid hosts the rendered output at a URL, which the agent shares during the conversation. The storage and retention of generated files are managed by Placid according to your Placid plan settings. You can also configure the agent to save files to your own storage.

How does the agent organize templates across different campaigns?

The agent uses Placid's collections and tags features. Each template can be tagged with campaign names, formats, or brand identifiers. When the agent needs a specific template, it browses collections or filters by tag. Custom metadata can also store campaign IDs or owner information for additional organization.

How is this different from using Canva's API?

Placid is built specifically for programmatic creative generation. While Canva focuses on interactive design, Placid's strength is automation. Templates render server-side without user interaction, making it ideal for AI agents that need to generate visuals on the fly from data. No human needs to click 'download.'

What authentication does the Placid integration require?

Tars needs your Placid API token, which you generate from your Placid account. Enter it in the Tars Tools section. The token is encrypted and stored securely. It grants access to your template library and generation capabilities. You can regenerate it anytime from Placid settings.

Can the agent create templates programmatically or only use existing ones?

Both. The agent can create new templates via Placid's API by specifying dimensions, title, tags, and custom metadata. However, the visual design of template layers (adding text fields, images, shapes) is done in Placid's editor. The API handles template management; the editor handles the visual design.
