How does the AI agent retrieve uptime status from Pingdom?

The agent calls Pingdom's GET checks endpoint, which returns every configured uptime check with its current status (up, down, or paused), last test time, and response metrics. You can filter by tags, check type, or team. The agent presents results conversationally instead of as raw API output.

Can the agent run an on-demand check against a specific URL?

Yes. The agent uses Pingdom's single check endpoint, which tests a hostname with a specified protocol (HTTP, TCP, UDP) from selected probe locations. Results include response time and status code. This is useful for quick verification after deployments or when investigating customer reports of slowness.

What alert details can the agent access from Pingdom?

The agent retrieves alert actions including which check triggered the alert, the status change (up or down), the notification channel used (email, SMS, webhook), the timestamp, and which users were notified. You can filter by time range, check IDs, or notification channel for targeted incident investigations.

Does Tars store my Pingdom monitoring data?

No. Tars queries your Pingdom account in real time through the API. Check statuses, alert histories, and maintenance windows are fetched live and used only within the current conversation. We do not maintain a separate database of your monitoring data.

Can the agent distinguish between uptime checks and transaction checks?

Yes. Pingdom has separate endpoints for standard uptime checks and TMS (transaction monitoring) checks. The agent can query either type independently. When your team asks about transaction check results, the agent calls the TMS-specific endpoint for scripted or recorded user flow checks.

How is this different from Pingdom's own alerting?

Pingdom alerts notify you when something changes. The Tars AI agent lets you query Pingdom data on demand during conversations. Ask about historical alerts, check status across all monitors, or verify maintenance windows. It complements Pingdom's notifications with conversational, on-demand access to your full monitoring dataset.

What authentication does the Pingdom integration require?

Tars needs a Pingdom API token, which you generate from your SolarWinds Pingdom account. Enter it once in the Tars Tools section. The token is encrypted and stored securely. You can revoke or regenerate it anytime from your Pingdom settings without affecting other integrations.

Can the agent check which probe locations are monitoring my sites?

Yes. The agent retrieves the full list of available Pingdom probe servers with their geographic details. It can also show which probes are assigned to specific checks, helping your team understand monitoring coverage and identify gaps in geographic testing distribution.
