How does the AI agent create documents in PandaDoc?

The agent uses PandaDoc's Create Document from File endpoint to upload PDFs, DOCX, or RTF files and convert them into PandaDoc documents. It specifies recipients, document name, tags, and optional form field parsing. The document is created in draft status, ready for review and signature.

Can the agent use existing PandaDoc templates to generate proposals?

Yes. The agent lists available templates using the List Templates endpoint, filtered by name or tag. Once the right template is identified, it can be used as the basis for a new document. Template details including field structure and sharing settings are accessible before generation.

What contact information does the agent capture in PandaDoc?

The agent creates or updates contacts with first name, last name, email, phone, company, job title, and full address including street, city, state, country, and postal code. If a contact with the same email already exists, the Create or Update endpoint merges the new information.

Does the agent need PandaDoc admin access?

No. The agent uses a PandaDoc API key, which can be scoped to specific permissions. Standard API access allows document creation, template listing, contact management, and folder operations. You control access level by configuring the API key's permissions in your PandaDoc settings.

Can the agent attach supplemental files to documents?

Yes. The agent uses the Create Document Attachment endpoint to add supplemental files like spreadsheets, images, or supporting materials to a document in draft status. Up to 10 files per document, with a 50 MB size limit per file, ensuring all relevant materials travel with the proposal.

Does Tars store copies of my PandaDoc documents?

No. Tars interacts with PandaDoc through the API during conversations. Documents, templates, and contacts are managed live in your PandaDoc account. Tars does not maintain a separate copy of your files or document data.

Can the agent organize documents into folders automatically?

Yes. The agent can create folders using the Create Folder endpoint and move documents into them using the Move Document to Folder endpoint. Configure your agent to automatically create a client-named folder and file each proposal there, keeping your PandaDoc workspace organized.

How is this different from using PandaDoc's built-in form builder?

PandaDoc's form builder collects data through static web forms. This integration collects data through dynamic AI conversations and pushes it into PandaDoc. The customer never fills out a form. They have a natural conversation, and the agent creates the document, contact, and folder behind the scenes.
