How does the AI agent look up delivery status in OptimoRoute?

The agent uses OptimoRoute's Get Orders and Get Scheduling Info APIs to retrieve order details by order number or internal ID. It returns the order status, scheduled date, assigned driver, time window, and current position in the route, all fetched live from your OptimoRoute account.

Can the agent access proof-of-delivery photos and signatures?

Yes. The agent calls OptimoRoute's Get Completion Details endpoint, which returns timestamps, GPS coordinates, form data, and any proof-of-delivery attachments the driver captured. This data can be shared directly in the conversation to resolve delivery disputes.

What OptimoRoute permissions does Tars need?

Tars requires your OptimoRoute API key, which provides access to orders, routes, drivers, scheduling, and completion data. The API key is created in your OptimoRoute account settings. You control which operations the agent can perform by configuring the tool in Tars.

Can the agent create new delivery orders in OptimoRoute?

Yes. The agent can use OptimoRoute's Create Order endpoint to add new deliveries, pickups, or tasks with location, time windows, priority, and custom fields. This is useful for scheduling redeliveries or adding new orders during customer conversations.

Does the agent have access to driver location in real time?

The agent accesses route schedules, stop sequences, and completion events through OptimoRoute's API. While it does not track GPS in real time, it can estimate arrival times based on the driver's current stop position and the route schedule, giving customers accurate ETAs.

Can the agent handle bulk order lookups if a business customer asks about multiple deliveries?

Yes. OptimoRoute's Search Orders API supports queries by date range, status filters, and multiple order identifiers in a single request, handling up to 500 orders at once. The agent can summarize delivery statuses across an entire day or customer account.

What happens if an order has not been scheduled yet?

The agent detects unscheduled orders through OptimoRoute's scheduling info endpoint. It informs the customer that their order is in the system but not yet assigned to a route, and can provide an expected scheduling timeline based on your configured planning schedule.

How is this different from the OptimoRoute driver app?

The driver app is for your delivery team. This integration lets your customers get delivery information directly through your AI agent on your website or messaging channels. Customers self-serve their delivery questions without needing your dispatch team or access to internal tools.
