Single email verification typically completes in under one second. The agent calls the API the moment a customer provides their email, and the result returns before the customer notices any delay. You can set a custom timeout in milliseconds for time-sensitive flows.

What verification statuses does NeverBounce return?

NeverBounce classifies emails as valid, invalid, disposable, catchall, or unknown. Each status includes additional flags like free_email_host, role_account, has_dns_info, and mail_server_reachable. The agent can interpret these to make accept/reject decisions based on your criteria.

Can the agent detect disposable email addresses like Mailinator?

Yes. NeverBounce flags disposable email services in its verification results. The agent can block signups from disposable addresses, prompt the user for a permanent email, or flag them for manual review based on your business rules.

How large can a bulk verification list be?

NeverBounce handles lists of any size, from dozens to millions of emails. The agent creates the job and monitors its progress. Larger lists take proportionally longer to process, but the agent can check status and notify you when results are ready for download.

Does Tars store the email addresses sent to NeverBounce?

Tars passes email addresses to the NeverBounce API for verification during conversations. The addresses are not stored separately by Tars after the conversation ends. Bulk job data is managed within your NeverBounce account according to their retention policies.

Can I run a sample before processing an entire list?

Yes. When creating a bulk job, the agent can set the run_sample parameter to true. NeverBounce processes a free sample subset of your list, giving you a quality preview before committing credits to the full verification. This is useful for evaluating new data sources.

How is this different from using NeverBounce's JavaScript widget?

The JavaScript widget validates emails on web forms. The Tars integration validates emails across any channel, including WhatsApp, SMS, and in-app chat. Plus, the agent can handle bulk list operations, job management, and account monitoring, which the widget cannot do.

What happens when NeverBounce returns an 'unknown' status?

Unknown means the mail server could not be definitively verified, often due to greylisting or temporary server issues. The agent can accept unknowns with a warning, reject them, or queue them for re-verification. NeverBounce personally reviews lists with high unknown rates to ensure quality.
