Frequently Asked Questions

How does the AI agent add new subscribers to my Mailcoach lists?

The agent uses Mailcoach's Subscribe to Email List API endpoint. When a visitor provides their email during conversation, the agent sends a request with their details, optional tags, and custom attributes. If double opt-in is enabled on your list, Mailcoach handles the confirmation email automatically.

Can I control which Mailcoach lists and segments the agent can access?

Yes. The API token you provide determines the access scope. You can generate tokens with limited permissions in your Mailcoach dashboard. Configure your agent's gambit to only interact with specific list UUIDs, ensuring it never touches lists outside its assigned scope.

Does Tars store my Mailcoach subscriber data?

No. Tars queries your Mailcoach instance in real time during conversations. Subscriber emails, names, and tags are fetched live from your self-hosted or cloud Mailcoach setup. We do not maintain a separate copy of your subscriber database.

Can the agent create and schedule campaigns automatically?

The agent can create campaigns using the Add Campaign endpoint, including setting the email list, template, HTML content, and schedule time. However, actually sending the campaign requires an additional step in Mailcoach. You can configure approval workflows to prevent unintended sends.

What happens if someone asks to unsubscribe and they are on multiple lists?

The agent can process unsubscriptions per list using the subscriber UUID. If you want a global unsubscribe across all lists, configure the agent to also add a suppression entry via the Add Suppression endpoint, which prevents the email from being re-added to any list.

How is this different from using Mailcoach's built-in subscription forms?

Mailcoach forms are static pages. Tars AI Agents have actual conversations, collecting subscriber preferences, answering questions about your content, and dynamically tagging contacts based on their interests. Plus, the agent works across WhatsApp, SMS, and web chat, not just your website.

Does the integration work with self-hosted Mailcoach instances?

Yes. When connecting, you provide your Mailcoach domain (e.g., yourcompany.mailcoach.app or your custom domain) along with your API token. The integration works identically whether you use the cloud version or a self-hosted Laravel installation.

Can the agent manage transactional email templates in Mailcoach?

Yes. The agent can create, retrieve, and list transactional email templates using Mailcoach's dedicated transactional template endpoints. This includes setting HTML content, subject lines, and default recipients for order confirmations, password resets, and other triggered emails.
