How does the AI agent push new data into Klipfolio data sources?

The agent uses Klipfolio's Update Data Source and Append Data to Data Source endpoints. You can send plain-text or CSV formatted data, and the agent writes it directly to the specified data source by ID. The 'update' replaces all existing data, while 'append' adds rows to what is already there.

Can the agent refresh specific data sources or does it refresh everything?

Both. The Refresh Multiple Data Sources endpoint accepts an array of data source IDs. You can ask the agent to refresh just the marketing sources, just the sales pipeline source, or all sources at once. The agent queues them for refresh and Klipfolio processes them in the background.

What types of data sources can the agent create in Klipfolio?

The agent can create any data source that Klipfolio's API supports, including simple REST connectors, CSV endpoints, and JSON feeds. You specify the connector type, endpoint URL, data format, and refresh interval. For more complex connectors like Google Analytics, initial setup is still handled in Klipfolio's UI.

Does Tars store any of the data it pushes to Klipfolio?

No. When data is sent through a conversation, the agent passes it directly to Klipfolio's API. The data lives in your Klipfolio data sources and is not cached or stored on Tars servers. Conversation transcripts may include the data exchanged, governed by your Tars data retention settings.

Can team members without Klipfolio accounts access dashboard data through the agent?

Yes, that is one of the key benefits. The AI agent authenticates with a single Klipfolio API key and provides information conversationally. Team members who do not have Klipfolio logins can ask the agent for KPI updates, data source statuses, and dashboard details through whatever channel the agent is deployed on.

How is this different from just sharing a Klipfolio published link?

The agent can retrieve a specific dashboard by ID, including its associated Klip instances if you enable the include_associations parameter. It can also list all Klips across the account. This helps team members find the exact visualization they need without browsing the Klipfolio interface.

What happens if a data source refresh fails?

The agent queues the refresh request through Klipfolio's API. If the underlying data source endpoint is unreachable or returns errors, Klipfolio handles the failure according to your connector settings. The agent can check data source status and report last-refresh timestamps so you know when something needs attention.
