Frequently Asked Questions

How does the AI agent submit a letter for printing through Intelliprint?

The agent calls Intelliprint's Create Print Job API with the document file and optional parameters like reference ID, test mode flag, and immediate confirmation. Intelliprint queues the job for same-day printing and Royal Mail dispatch. The agent can also check job status afterward using the Retrieve Print Job endpoint.

Can the agent cancel a print job that has not shipped yet?

Yes. If the job has not entered the physical printing stage, the agent calls the Cancel/Delete Print Job endpoint with the job ID. Intelliprint removes the job from the queue. Once a letter is already being printed, cancellation is no longer possible and the agent will inform the customer accordingly.

What authentication does Tars need for Intelliprint?

Tars requires your Intelliprint API key, which you can generate from your Intelliprint account dashboard. Enter the key in the Tars Tools configuration. All API communication uses TLS encryption, and your key is stored securely. No additional OAuth flow or admin credentials are needed.

Does Tars store copies of documents sent through Intelliprint?

No. Tars passes the document file directly to Intelliprint's API during the conversation. The document content is not retained in Tars after the API call completes. Your files remain in your Intelliprint account where you manage them according to your own data retention policies.

Can the agent apply branded letterheads to outgoing mail?

Yes. The agent uses Intelliprint's Background endpoints to upload, list, and select letterhead templates. When creating a print job, the selected background is applied to the document. You can maintain multiple backgrounds for different brands or departments and the agent picks the right one based on context.

What happens if I use Intelliprint's test mode through the agent?

Setting the testmode flag to true in the Create Print Job request lets you validate your integration without sending real mail or incurring costs. The agent processes everything identically but Intelliprint marks the job as a test. This is ideal for initial setup, QA testing, and training new agents.

Can the agent merge multiple documents into one mailing?

Yes. Intelliprint's Merge Files endpoint accepts multiple files and combines them into a single document. Your agent calls this before creating the print job, producing one merged letter from several source files. This is useful for multi-page statements or bundled correspondence.

How is this different from manually using the Intelliprint web portal?

The web portal requires a human to upload documents, select settings, and confirm each job. With Tars, your AI agent handles the entire process during a conversation, triggered by customer requests or automated events.
