How does the AI agent find email addresses from a company name?

The agent calls Hunter's Domain Search API with the company domain or name. Hunter returns all known email addresses for that organization, including the person's name, position, department, and a confidence score. You can filter by seniority level or department to target the right contacts.

Does the Email Verifier consume Hunter API credits?

Yes, each email verification uses one verification credit from your Hunter account. However, the Email Count endpoint is free and does not consume credits. You can configure the agent to check email counts first and only verify high-priority contacts to manage credit usage efficiently.

What Hunter API key permissions does Tars need?

Tars requires a standard Hunter API key from your account settings. This key provides access to all API endpoints including Domain Search, Email Finder, Email Verifier, Leads, and Campaigns. There are no special scopes to configure. You can revoke the key anytime from your Hunter dashboard.

Does Tars store the email addresses Hunter returns?

No. Tars queries Hunter in real time during conversations. Email addresses and enrichment data are fetched live, used to respond, and not stored separately. If the agent creates a lead in Hunter, that data lives in your Hunter account, not in Tars.

Can the agent handle Hunter's rate limits during high-volume searches?

Hunter's API allows 15 requests per second for Domain Search and Email Finder, and 10 per second for Email Verifier. The agent respects these limits automatically. For bulk operations, it processes requests sequentially within the allowed rate, ensuring no failed calls or account penalties.

How is this different from using Hunter's Chrome extension?

The Chrome extension requires a sales rep to manually visit websites and click to find emails. A Tars AI Agent works proactively during customer conversations, finding and verifying emails in real time without any manual browsing. It also works on WhatsApp, SMS, and any channel where customers engage.

Can the agent find emails for people using first name and company only?

Yes. Hunter's Email Finder endpoint accepts a first name, last name, and domain or company name. If you only have partial information, the agent uses what is available and Hunter returns the most likely email with a confidence score. Higher confidence results can be auto-saved as leads.

What happens when Hunter cannot find any emails for a domain?

The agent handles zero results gracefully. It informs the user that no public emails were found for that domain, suggests trying alternative domain variations, and offers to run a company enrichment check instead for additional intel like industry, location, and employee count.
