What GA4 data can the AI agent access through the integration?

The agent accesses GA4 properties, reports (standard and pivot), real-time data, audiences, conversion events, key events, data streams, channel groups, custom dimensions, calculated metrics, and audience exports. It uses the GA4 Data API and Admin API to query the same data available in your GA4 dashboard.

Can the agent run custom GA4 reports with specific dimensions and metrics?

Yes. The Run Report endpoint accepts custom dimension and metric combinations, date ranges, filters, and sorting parameters. The agent translates natural language questions into the appropriate API request. For example, asking 'top traffic sources last month' triggers a report with source/medium dimensions and session metrics filtered to the previous 30 days.

How does the OAuth connection to Google Analytics work?

Tars uses Google's standard OAuth 2.0 flow with drive.file and userinfo.email scopes. You authorize access through your Google account, which grants the agent read permissions to your GA4 properties. No API keys to manage. You can revoke access anytime from your Google account security settings.

Does Tars store copies of my Google Analytics data?

No. Tars queries the GA4 API in real time when you ask a question. Report results are fetched live, formatted into a response, and not stored in a separate database. Your analytics data remains in your Google Analytics account.

Can the agent check real-time active users on my website?

Yes. The Run Realtime Report endpoint returns current active users, active pages, traffic sources, and event data from the last 30 minutes. This is the same data you see in GA4's Realtime overview, delivered through conversation instead of a dashboard.

How is this different from using GA4's built-in Explorations?

GA4 Explorations require navigating the interface, configuring dimensions and metrics, and understanding the analysis hub. Tars lets anyone ask questions in plain language and get formatted answers. It is especially valuable for team members who do not use GA4 daily but need data for decisions.

Can the agent compare metrics across different date ranges?

Yes. The report API supports multiple date ranges in a single request. Ask 'compare this month's sessions to last month' and the agent runs a report with both periods, calculating the percentage change and presenting the comparison clearly.

What happens if I ask about data from a GA4 property the agent does not have access to?

The agent can only access GA4 properties that the authorized Google account has permissions for. If you ask about a property outside your access scope, the agent will explain that the data is unavailable and suggest checking your Google Analytics account permissions or connecting with a different Google account.
