How does the AI agent search through my Fireflies meeting transcripts?

The agent uses Fireflies' GraphQL API to query transcripts by date range, participant email, host email, or meeting title. For content-level searches, it creates an AskFred thread that uses natural language processing to find specific topics, decisions, or action items across one or many meetings. Results include speaker attribution and timestamps.

Can the agent extract action items from a specific meeting?

Yes. The agent creates an AskFred conversation thread targeting a specific transcript ID and asks for action items. AskFred analyzes the meeting content using AI and returns structured action items with assignees and context. You can also ask follow-up questions in the same thread to drill deeper.

What format does the uploaded audio need to be in for transcription?

Fireflies accepts mp3, mp4, wav, m4a, and ogg formats. The audio file must be publicly accessible via HTTPS URL, not a preview link. The agent passes the URL to Fireflies' Upload Audio mutation along with a title and optional language code. Transcription typically completes within minutes depending on file length.

Does Tars store copies of my meeting transcripts?

No. Tars queries Fireflies in real time during conversations. Transcript data, speaker information, and meeting content are fetched live from your Fireflies account and used only to answer the current question. We do not maintain a separate database of your meeting recordings or transcripts.

Can the agent access meetings recorded before the Tars integration was set up?

Yes. The agent queries your entire Fireflies transcript history through the API. Any meeting that exists in your Fireflies workspace, regardless of when it was recorded, is accessible. There is no cutoff date tied to when you connected Tars.

How is this different from just using Fireflies' built-in AskFred directly?

AskFred lives inside the Fireflies dashboard. Tars brings that same intelligence to wherever your users are, whether that is your website chat, WhatsApp, Slack, or an internal tool. Your customers and team members get meeting answers without needing a Fireflies login. Plus, Tars combines Fireflies data with your other connected tools in a single conversation.

What Fireflies plan do I need for the API integration to work?

Fireflies API access requires a Business plan or higher. The Free and Pro plans do not include API access. Features like adding the bot to live meetings and accessing full transcript details also require a paid plan. Check your Fireflies settings to confirm API key availability.

Can the agent create shareable clips from meeting recordings?

Yes. The agent uses the Create Bite endpoint to extract a specific segment by defining start and end times in seconds. You can choose between audio or video format and set privacy to public, team-only, or participants-only. The resulting clip gets a unique URL that can be shared directly.
