How does the AI agent fetch a stock price from Finage during a conversation?

When a client asks about a ticker, the agent calls Finage's Get Stock Details endpoint with the symbol as a parameter. Finage returns the current price, daily change percentage, trading volume, and timestamp. The agent formats this into a natural-language response and delivers it within the ongoing conversation, all in real time.

Can the agent look up historical price data for a specific date range?

Yes. The agent uses Finage's Historical Data endpoint, passing the stock symbol, start date, end date, and time interval (minute, hour, day, week, month). Finage returns OHLCV candles for the entire range. The agent can summarize trends, calculate percentage changes, or present the raw data points depending on the client's request.

What markets does the Finage integration cover beyond US stocks?

Finage provides data for over 100,000 global stocks across 55+ exchanges, 2,500+ forex pairs, 7,000+ cryptocurrency pairs, plus indices, ETFs, commodities, and bonds. However, the Tars integration endpoints currently focus on US stock data including quotes, historical candles, aggregates, tick data, market news, and exchange status.

Does Tars store any of the financial data retrieved from Finage?

No. Market data is fetched live from Finage during each conversation and used only to generate the response. Tars does not cache, store, or replicate any stock prices, historical data, or news content. Each request goes directly to Finage's API and the data stays transient.

How current is the stock price data the agent provides?

Finage delivers real-time market data with low latency through their REST API. The agent fetches the latest available quote at the moment of the customer's question. During market hours, this reflects live trading prices. After hours, the agent can retrieve the most recent end-of-day or previous close data instead.

Can the agent answer questions about multiple stocks in a single message?

Yes. Using Finage's Market Snapshot endpoint, the agent can request quotes for a comma-separated list of symbols in one API call. If a client asks about their portfolio of AAPL, MSFT, and GOOGL, the agent retrieves all three quotes simultaneously and presents a consolidated summary.

A stock widget displays data passively.
