Frequently Asked Questions

Which Facebook Page permissions does Tars need to manage my content?

Tars requests pages_manage_posts for publishing, pages_manage_engagement for comments and reactions, pages_messaging for Messenger conversations, and read_insights for analytics. You authorize through Facebook's standard OAuth flow and select which Pages to grant access to. You can revoke any permission at any time from your Facebook Business Settings.

Can the AI agent respond to Messenger messages automatically on my behalf?

Yes. The agent uses the Facebook Send API to send text and media messages through your Page's Messenger. It reads incoming conversations, understands the customer's question, and responds within your brand guidelines. You can set rules for which types of messages get automated responses and which get escalated to human agents.

Does the agent support scheduling posts with images and videos?

Yes. The agent creates photo posts, video posts, and text posts with links. For scheduled content, it sets the scheduled_publish_time parameter to your desired time. Image and video content can be uploaded from URLs or files up to Facebook's limits of 10MB for photos and 10GB for videos.

What Facebook Page insights can the agent retrieve?

The agent accesses page-level metrics including page_follows, page_daily_follows_unique, page_media_view, page_post_engagements, page_video_views, and page_total_actions. For individual posts, it retrieves post_media_view metrics. Data can be filtered by period (day, week, 28 days) and date range.

Can the agent manage multiple Facebook Pages from a single Tars account?

Yes. During OAuth authorization, you select which Pages to grant access to. The agent uses the list managed pages endpoint to see all available Pages and can target specific ones by page ID. You can manage your restaurant page, retail page, and corporate page all through the same agent.

How is this different from using Facebook Business Suite directly?

Business Suite requires logging into a dashboard and navigating its interface. With Tars, you manage everything through conversation, whether on your phone via WhatsApp or through a quick chat message. The agent also connects Facebook operations with your other tools like CRMs, spreadsheets, and support systems, something Business Suite cannot do.

Can the agent hide or moderate negative comments on my Page posts?

Yes. The agent can update comments to hide or unhide them using the is_hidden parameter on the update comment endpoint. It can also delete comments by ID. You can configure moderation rules so the agent automatically hides comments containing certain keywords or sentiment, keeping your Page professional.

What happens when a customer sends a Messenger message outside of the 24-hour messaging window?

Facebook's messaging policy allows free-form responses within 24 hours of the last customer message. After that window, the agent can still send messages using MESSAGE_TAG messaging type for permitted categories like confirmed event updates or account updates. The agent respects these platform policies automatically to keep your Page in compliance.
