Can the AI agent generate answers with source citations from Exa?

Yes. The Exa Answer endpoint produces direct, citation-backed answers to natural language questions. The agent presents the answer in the conversation along with links to the source documents, so your customers can verify the information themselves. You can choose between the standard model and exa-pro for more comprehensive results.

What types of content can the agent search for using Exa?

Does Tars store any of the web search results from Exa?

No. Search results and page contents are fetched in real-time from Exa during each conversation and used only to respond to the current customer query. Tars does not maintain a cache or database of Exa search results between sessions.

Can the agent restrict searches to specific websites or exclude certain domains?

Yes. Exa's includeDomains and excludeDomains parameters let you control exactly where the agent searches. You can restrict results to your own documentation sites, trusted industry sources, or exclude competitor domains. Note that these are mutually exclusive, so you use one or the other per query.
