EspoCRM
EspoCRM holds your contacts, leads, and deals. Now your AI agent can access that data during customer conversations, pulling user profiles and system configuration in real time. Your self-hosted CRM becomes an intelligent, always-available customer touchpoint.

Your AI agent taps directly into your EspoCRM instance to retrieve user data and system metadata, powering personalized responses during every customer interaction.
EspoCRM
How businesses running EspoCRM on their own infrastructure use AI agents to make customer data accessible through natural conversation.
A returning customer messages your business. Your AI Agent retrieves their user profile from EspoCRM, including their name, preferences, and recent activity. The agent greets them by name and references their last interaction. The customer feels recognized immediately, and your support team does not need to look up their profile manually before responding.
A sales rep asks the agent what custom fields are available on the Opportunity entity. Your AI Agent fetches EspoCRM metadata and lists all fields, their types, and required status. The rep gets their answer instantly instead of logging into EspoCRM, navigating to Entity Manager, and browsing field definitions. Time saved on every internal question adds up.
A junior sales rep and a manager both ask the agent for account details. Your AI Agent checks each user's ACL from EspoCRM before responding. The manager sees full account financials while the rep sees only their assigned contacts. Your data governance policies are enforced automatically during every conversation, without building separate bot flows for each role.

FAQs
Yes. You provide the base URL of your EspoCRM instance when configuring the tool in Tars. The agent communicates with your instance over HTTPS using the REST API. Whether you host EspoCRM on your own servers, a VPS, or in a private cloud, the integration works as long as the API endpoint is reachable.
The agent can retrieve the authenticated user's profile data, including their token, ACL permissions, and preferences. It can also fetch system metadata covering entity definitions, field configurations, relationships, and translations. These endpoints provide awareness of your CRM's structure and the current user's context.
You create an API User in EspoCRM under Administration and assign it a role with the appropriate permissions. EspoCRM generates an API key for that user, which you enter in the Tars dashboard. All API requests from the agent use this key for authentication.
Yes. The Get Metadata endpoint returns the full schema of your EspoCRM instance, including custom entity types and their fields. The agent can discover and reference any entity you have defined, giving it awareness of your unique data model.
No. All data is fetched in real time from your EspoCRM instance during active conversations. User profiles, metadata, and configuration details are not cached or stored by Tars. Your self-hosted data remains on your infrastructure.
Yes. EspoCRM's role-based access control governs what the API user can access. Create a dedicated role in EspoCRM with restricted permissions and assign it to the API user. The agent will only be able to retrieve data that this role allows.
The EspoCRM portal provides a web interface for customers to view records. Tars AI Agents go further by having actual conversations, understanding natural language questions, and providing answers from CRM data without the customer needing to navigate a portal. It also works on WhatsApp, SMS, and other channels beyond web.
The integration currently covers user profile and metadata retrieval. As EspoCRM's API surface expands through new subtool additions, the agent will gain access to CRUD operations on contacts, leads, opportunities, and other entities. Check back for updates as new capabilities are added.
Don't limit your AI Agent to basic conversations. Watch how to configure and add powerful tools making your agent smarter and more functional.
