The agent uses Enginemailer's Insert Subscriber API to add contacts to a specific mailing list. It captures the email, name, and any custom fields during the chat and sends them to Enginemailer with the target list ID. The subscriber starts receiving your automated sequences immediately.

Can the agent handle unsubscribe requests to stay CAN-SPAM compliant?

Yes. When someone requests to stop receiving emails, the agent calls Enginemailer's Unsubscribe endpoint with their email address. The removal is processed instantly, the subscriber is confirmed, and your compliance obligations are met without any manual intervention.

What Enginemailer credentials does Tars require to connect?

Tars needs your Enginemailer API key, which you can find under your user profile at portal.enginemailer.com/Account/UserProfile. This single key authenticates all API requests. No OAuth flow or additional tokens are needed.

Does Tars store my Enginemailer subscriber list data?

No. Tars queries Enginemailer in real time when the agent needs subscriber information. Email addresses, custom fields, and list details are fetched live and used only for the current conversation. No copies of your mailing lists are stored on Tars servers.

Can the agent tag subscribers based on what they discuss in conversation?

Yes. The agent uses the Tag to Subcategory endpoint to assign subscribers to specific Enginemailer subcategories. If someone asks about enterprise plans, the agent can tag them as 'Enterprise Lead' for targeted campaign segmentation later.

What happens if the agent tries to add a subscriber who already exists?

Enginemailer's Add/Update Subscriber endpoint handles this gracefully. If the email already exists, the subscriber record is updated with any new custom fields rather than creating a duplicate. Your lists stay clean without any deduplication work on your end.
