How does the AI agent verify an email address using Emailable?

The agent sends the email to Emailable's Verify Email endpoint, which performs SMTP checks, MX record lookups, and disposable email detection. Results include a deliverability state (deliverable, undeliverable, risky, or unknown) along with a risk score. The agent uses this data to decide whether to accept the email or prompt the user for an alternative.

What happens to emails that Emailable marks as 'unknown' during a conversation?

The agent can be configured to handle unknowns in multiple ways: accept them with a warning tag, ask the user to confirm the address, or retry verification after a short delay. Emailable's anti-greylisting protocols reduce unknowns, but for the remaining cases, you define the fallback behavior in your agent settings.

How many emails can the batch verification process at once?

Emailable's batch endpoint supports up to 50,000 email addresses per job. The AI agent submits the list, then checks status periodically using the batch status endpoint. For a 10,000-email list, Emailable typically processes results in about 2-3 minutes. Duplicates and unknown results are credited back to your account automatically.

Does Tars store the email addresses sent to Emailable for verification?

No. Email addresses are passed directly to Emailable's API during the conversation and are not stored by Tars. The verification result is used in real time to make decisions within the chat, and the raw email data is not retained in any Tars database after the session ends.

Can the agent check my Emailable credit balance before running a large batch?

Yes. The agent calls Emailable's Get Account Info endpoint, which returns your current credit balance and account owner email. If credits are below a threshold you define, the agent can alert you before submitting the batch, preventing job failures and giving you time to purchase additional credits.

What is the difference between Emailable's verification and a simple regex check?

Regex only validates email format syntax. Emailable performs deep checks including SMTP handshake, MX record verification, disposable email detection, role-based address identification, and spam-trap analysis. The AI agent leverages all these signals to make informed decisions, catching invalid emails that would pass any regex check.

How do I connect my Emailable API key in the Tars dashboard?
