Which Dynamics 365 entities can the AI agent create and update?

The agent works with core CRM entities including accounts, contacts, leads, opportunities, cases (incidents), invoices, and sales orders. It can create new records, update existing ones, and retrieve data from all of these entities through the Dynamics 365 Web API.

How does the agent authenticate with my Dynamics 365 instance?

Tars uses OAuth 2.0 with user impersonation scopes. You provide your organization subdomain (for example, myorg in myorg.crm.dynamics.com) and authorize through Microsoft's login flow. The agent acts under your delegated permissions, so your existing security roles and field-level security still apply.

Can the agent assign leads to specific sales reps based on territory or product line?

The agent creates leads with fields like company name, subject, and contact info. You can combine this with Dynamics 365's native assignment rules or Power Automate flows to route leads to the right rep based on territory, industry, or deal size. The agent provides the data; your CRM rules handle distribution.

Does Tars store a copy of my Dynamics 365 contact or account data?

No. Tars queries your Dynamics 365 environment in real time during conversations. Contact details, lead records, and opportunity data are fetched live through the Web API and used only to serve the current customer interaction. We do not maintain a separate database of your CRM records.

What happens if a customer asks about a case that was created before the integration?

The agent can retrieve any existing case record from your Dynamics 365 instance, regardless of when it was created. As long as the incident exists in your CRM, the agent can look it up by case ID, provide status updates, and even add new notes or change priority based on the customer's follow-up.

How is this different from Dynamics 365's built-in Copilot or Power Virtual Agents?

Power Virtual Agents and Copilot operate within the Microsoft ecosystem. Tars works across WhatsApp, SMS, your website, and 600+ other tool integrations. If your customers interact outside of Teams or your Dynamics portal, Tars gives your CRM an AI presence wherever those conversations happen.

Yes. The agent can modify the sales stage code (Qualify, Develop, Propose, Close) and the estimated value on any opportunity record. When a prospect provides new information during a conversation, the agent pushes updates to Dynamics 365 immediately, keeping your pipeline forecast current.

Does the integration support multi-currency invoices and sales orders?

Yes. When creating invoices or sales orders, the agent accepts a transaction currency reference in GUID format. If your Dynamics 365 environment has multiple currencies configured, the agent can specify the correct one for each record based on the customer's region or preference.
