How does the AI agent send an SMS through Dripcel during a conversation?

The agent calls Dripcel's Send SMS endpoint with the recipient phone number in E.164 format, message content, sender ID, and country code. It can send immediately or schedule for a specific date and time. Messages support both plain GSM and Unicode encoding for international character sets.

Can the agent automatically tag contacts based on what customers say in chat?

Yes. Based on conversation context, the agent calls Dripcel's Add Tag endpoint with the contact's phone number and tag names or IDs. If the contact does not exist in Dripcel, setting create_missing_contact to true creates the record automatically with the specified tags attached.

What Dripcel credentials does Tars need?

Tars requires your Dripcel organization API key, available from your Dripcel account settings. This key authenticates all API requests including sending messages, managing contacts, and retrieving campaign data. You can regenerate the key from your Dripcel dashboard if needed.

Does Tars store SMS content or recipient phone numbers?

Tars passes message content and phone numbers to Dripcel's API during the conversation. We do not maintain a separate database of your SMS messages or contact phone numbers. Delivery records and message logs remain in your Dripcel account where your data retention policies apply.

Can the agent check whether someone has opted out before sending them an SMS?

Yes. The agent can run Dripcel's compliance check endpoint with a list of phone numbers and a campaign ID. Dripcel evaluates each number against opt-out lists and campaign targeting rules, returning which contacts are eligible and which are blocked. This prevents sending to unsubscribed recipients.

How does the agent handle SMS replies and opt-out requests?

The agent searches Dripcel's replies endpoint by campaign, phone number, or date range. It identifies reply types including opt-in, opt-out, and unknown responses. Opt-out replies are handled by Dripcel's platform automatically, but the agent surfaces them for campaign reporting.
