Use Cases

E-signature workflows, fully automated

See how businesses use AI agents to send, track, and manage document signing through DocuSeal, turning lengthy approval processes into instant conversational actions.

Instant Contract Delivery During Sales Calls

A prospect says 'I am ready to sign' during a website chat. Your AI Agent identifies the correct DocuSeal template, pre-fills the prospect's name and email from the conversation, creates the submission, and delivers the signing link. The prospect signs the contract before ending the chat. Your sales cycle shrinks from days of email follow-ups to a single conversation.

Automated NDA Collection for New Partners

A potential partner reaches out asking about collaboration. Your AI Agent qualifies them, then sends the standard NDA through DocuSeal with pre-filled company details. The partner signs on the spot. Your legal team no longer manually sends NDAs, and partnership onboarding starts hours earlier than before.

Real-Time Signing Status for Anxious Clients

A client messages 'Did everyone sign the agreement?' Your AI Agent searches DocuSeal submissions by document ID, retrieves the signing status of each party, and reports exactly who has signed and who still needs to. The client gets instant visibility without pinging your operations team, reducing status inquiry tickets to near zero.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the AI agent send a document for signing through DocuSeal?

The agent uses DocuSeal's Submissions API to create a signature request. It specifies the template ID, submitter email, and any pre-filled field values like name or company. DocuSeal then sends the signing invitation to the recipient. The entire process happens during the conversation without manual steps.

Can the agent create signing requests from raw PDF files instead of templates?

Yes. DocuSeal supports creating one-off submissions directly from uploaded PDF content. Your agent can trigger this endpoint with the PDF binary, submitter email, and optional field prefills. This is useful for ad hoc documents that do not have a pre-built template in your account.

What DocuSeal permissions does Tars need to function?

Tars requires a DocuSeal API key generated from your Console under API settings. This key provides access to template management, submission creation, and submitter listing. You control the scope by choosing which API key to share, and you can revoke access anytime from the DocuSeal Console.

Does Tars store copies of signed documents or customer data from DocuSeal?

No. Tars calls DocuSeal's API in real time to create submissions and check statuses. Signed documents remain in your DocuSeal account. Customer emails and field values are passed through to DocuSeal during submission creation but are not stored separately by Tars.

Can the agent handle multi-party signing where documents need sequential signatures?

Yes. When creating a submission via the DocuSeal API, you can configure preserved ordering so the second signer receives the document only after the first party completes their portion. Your agent sets this up during submission creation based on your workflow requirements.

What happens if a signer has not completed the document and the customer asks for an update?

The agent queries DocuSeal's list submissions endpoint filtered by document ID. It retrieves the current status of each submitter, showing who has signed and who is still pending. If the signer has not acted, the agent reports the pending status and can suggest next steps.

How is this different from using DocuSeal's web interface directly?

The web interface requires someone to log in, find the template, fill in details, and send manually. With Tars, the AI agent handles all of this inside a customer conversation. Documents go out the moment a customer agrees, with zero context switching for your team.

Can I use DocuSeal's self-hosted version with this integration?

Yes. DocuSeal offers both cloud and self-hosted on-premises deployment. As long as your self-hosted instance exposes the standard REST API and you provide the correct API key and base URL, the Tars integration works identically. Your data stays entirely on your own servers.
