What Discord bot permissions does Tars need to operate?

Tars requests the OAuth scopes you configure: typically 'bot' and 'messages.read' for basic operation. Specific capabilities like role management require 'Manage Roles', message deletion needs 'Manage Messages', and banning requires 'Ban Members'. You control exactly which permissions to grant during the OAuth flow, and you can revoke them from your Discord server settings at any time.

Can the AI agent respond in specific channels only, or does it monitor the entire server?

You configure which channels the agent monitors and responds in. Restrict it to your support channel, let it moderate all public channels, or set different behaviors per channel. The agent respects Discord's permission overwrites, so it will only operate in channels where the bot role has access.

How does the agent handle threaded conversations versus main channel replies?

The agent can create new threads from messages or reply within existing threads. For support questions, it typically creates a thread to keep the main channel clean. For quick answers, it replies directly. You configure this behavior based on channel type and message content.

Does Tars store messages or member data from my Discord server?
