What Discord data can the AI agent access through this integration?

The agent can retrieve user profiles, guild memberships, connected third-party accounts, OAuth2 authorization details, guild widget data, invite link information, and application entitlements. Access depends on the OAuth2 scopes granted during authorization, including identify, email, guilds, connections, and guilds.members.read.

Can the agent send messages to Discord channels?

The current integration focuses on reading Discord data for verification and identity purposes. It retrieves user profiles, checks memberships, and resolves invites. Message sending to channels would require bot-level permissions beyond the OAuth2 user scopes included in this integration.

How does the OAuth2 authorization work with Discord?

When you connect Discord in the Tars dashboard, you authorize through Discord's standard OAuth2 flow. You select which scopes to grant, such as identify, email, guilds, and connections. Tars receives an access token to make API calls on behalf of the authorized account. You can revoke access at any time from your Discord settings.

Can the agent verify if a user belongs to my specific Discord server?

Yes. The agent uses the guild member endpoint to check whether a specific user is a member of your guild. It retrieves their roles, nickname, and join date within that server. This is useful for gating support tiers, verifying community membership, or confirming VIP status.

Does Tars store Discord user data or guild information?

No. Discord data is queried live through the API during each conversation. User profiles, guild memberships, and connection lists are fetched in real time and used only to generate the agent's response. Tars does not maintain a database of your Discord community data.

What are Discord entitlements and how does the agent check them?

Entitlements represent premium offerings or subscriptions a user has purchased for your Discord application. The agent queries the entitlements endpoint with your application ID and can filter by active, deleted, or ended status. This lets you verify premium access without checking Discord's developer dashboard.
