What exactly does Clearout check when verifying an email?

Clearout runs 20+ validation checks including syntax verification, MX record lookup, SMTP mailbox ping, disposable domain detection, role-based account identification, free provider detection, catch-all domain check, and gibberish pattern analysis. The agent receives a deliverability status and confidence score for each email.

Can the agent verify emails in real-time during a chat conversation?

Yes. The instant verification endpoint returns results within seconds. When a visitor enters their email in your chatbot, the agent calls Clearout before the conversation proceeds. If the email is invalid or disposable, the agent asks for a corrected address immediately, preventing bad data from entering your system.

How does the bulk verification work through the AI agent?

The agent uploads your CSV or XLSX file to Clearout's bulk verification endpoint. You can choose between highest accuracy or fastest turnaround optimization modes. The agent polls the job progress and provides a download URL when complete. Lists up to hundreds of thousands of emails can be processed in a single batch.

Does Tars store the email addresses it verifies through Clearout?

No. Tars passes each email to Clearout's API for verification and returns the result in the conversation. Email addresses and verification results are not persisted by Tars. Bulk files are uploaded directly to Clearout's servers, and download links point to Clearout's storage.

Can the agent find someone's business email from just their name and company?

Yes. Using Clearout's email finder, the agent can locate verified business emails given a person's name and company domain. For bulk lookups, upload a CSV with name and company columns. The agent also enriches profiles from LinkedIn URLs using the reverse lookup endpoint, pulling name, title, company, and email.

What is catch-all detection and why does it matter?

A catch-all domain accepts emails to any address, making it impossible to confirm if a specific mailbox exists. Clearout's catch-all verify endpoint identifies these domains. Your agent flags catch-all addresses so your team can decide whether to include them in campaigns, since they carry higher bounce risk.

How is this different from using NeverBounce or ZeroBounce directly?

Those tools require logging into a dashboard or writing custom integrations. Tars embeds Clearout verification directly into conversations. Emails get verified at the point of capture, not after the fact. Plus, Clearout's email finder, LinkedIn lookup, and company enrichment APIs all work through the same agent, combining verification and prospecting in one flow.

Can the agent check how many verification credits I have remaining?

Yes. The agent calls Clearout's Get Credits endpoint to retrieve your current email verification credit balance. Before running a large bulk job, you can ask the agent to confirm you have enough credits. This prevents jobs from failing mid-process due to insufficient balance.
