ClassMarker uses a signature-based authentication. Each request requires your API key, a UNIX timestamp, and an MD5 hash computed from your API key, API secret, and the timestamp. Tars handles this computation automatically for every API call, so you just provide your key and secret during setup.
Yes. The agent supports all creatable question types: multiple choice, multiple response, true/false, and essay. For choice-based questions, it sets options A through J with correct answer designations, point values, and optional correct/incorrect feedback. Random answer ordering can be enabled per question.
The agent fetches results by group and exam or by link and exam, filtered by a timestamp to get only recent submissions. Each result includes the test-taker's score, percentage, pass/fail status, time spent, and completion timestamp. Results can be paginated with up to 200 entries per request.
No. Tars queries ClassMarker's API in real-time and returns results within the conversation. Student names, emails, scores, and exam responses are fetched live and not persisted by Tars. Your exam data remains in your ClassMarker account, governed by ClassMarker's data retention policies.
Yes. The agent can add up to 100 unique access codes per request to a ClassMarker access list, and also remove codes when access needs to be revoked. Each code can be up to 255 characters, allowing you to use employee IDs, email addresses, or custom identifiers as access tokens.
ClassMarker's dashboard requires logging in, navigating menus, and manually performing each action. Tars lets admins, instructors, and even test-takers interact through natural language. Partially. ClassMarker's result endpoints return data for exams finished within the last 3 months. The agent queries using a finishedAfterTimestamp parameter, so any results within that 3-month window are accessible regardless of when you connected Tars. Older results are not available through the API.
The agent handles this gracefully. If the test ID or user ID returns no data from ClassMarker, the agent informs the user that no matching record was found and suggests verifying the ID or trying a different search. It can also list all available tests or users to help identify the correct one.
