How does the AI agent add a new subscriber to my Campayn list?

When a visitor shares their email during a conversation, the agent calls Campayn's Create Contact API with their email, name, and any custom fields you configure. The contact lands in the list you specify. If duplicate detection is enabled, Campayn returns an error instead of creating a duplicate, and the agent informs the visitor they are already subscribed.

Can the agent add contacts to different Campayn lists based on what they are interested in?

Yes. You configure routing rules in your agent. If a visitor asks about product updates, the agent adds them to your Product Updates list. If they want promotions, they go to the Deals list. The list ID is selected dynamically based on conversation context before the Create Contact call is made.

What Campayn API permissions does Tars require?

Tars uses your Campayn API key, which grants access to contacts, lists, messages, webforms, and reports. You generate the key from your Campayn account settings. There is no OAuth flow. If you want to restrict access, create a key with limited scope or revoke it anytime from the Campayn dashboard.

Does Tars store my Campayn subscriber data?

No. Tars calls the Campayn API in real time during conversations. Subscriber details, list information, and report data are fetched live and used only to respond to the current interaction. We do not maintain a copy of your Campayn contact database.

Can the agent pull email campaign open and click rates during a conversation?

Yes. The agent uses Campayn's Get Reports endpoint to retrieve performance data for sent campaigns, including open rates, click-through rates, bounces, and delivery timestamps. You can filter by date range so the agent only returns recent campaign stats.

What happens if a contact already exists on the list and my agent tries to add them again?

You control this with the failOnDuplicate parameter. When set to true, Campayn returns an error for duplicates, and the agent tells the visitor they are already subscribed. When set to false, Campayn updates the existing record with any new fields. Either way, no duplicate contacts pollute your list.

How is this different from embedding a Campayn signup form on my site?

A static form sits on a page and waits. The Tars AI Agent actively engages visitors, answers their questions, qualifies their interest, and captures their email in the natural flow of conversation. Conversion rates climb because the signup happens in context, not as a cold form fill. Plus, the agent segments contacts dynamically based on what they discussed.

Can I use the agent to manage Campayn webforms as well?

Yes. The agent can retrieve webform details for any list, including form title, type, HTML embed code, and signup count. It can also list all webforms filtered by type, such as signup page, embed, WordPress, or Facebook forms. This lets your team audit active forms without logging into the Campayn dashboard.
