The agent calls Bright Data's SERP Search API with your query keywords, target search engine (Google, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, or Yandex), and geographic location. Results return as structured JSON with titles, snippets, URLs, and rich features. The agent then presents the relevant findings conversationally.

Can the agent scrape websites that have anti-bot protection?

Yes. The agent uses Bright Data's Web Unlocker, which handles CAPTCHA solving, JavaScript rendering, browser fingerprinting, and proxy rotation automatically. Sites that block regular scraping tools become accessible through Bright Data's infrastructure. The agent simply requests a URL and receives the content.

What Bright Data credentials does Tars need?

Tars requires your Bright Data API key, which you generate from your Bright Data dashboard. The API key grants access to your configured zones, datasets, and scraping products. You manage zone permissions directly in your Bright Data account.

Does Tars store the web data that Bright Data scrapes?

No. Scraped data flows through the conversation in real-time. Bright Data stores snapshot results temporarily on their infrastructure until you retrieve them, but Tars does not maintain a persistent copy of any scraped content beyond the active conversation session.

How long do crawl jobs take, and can the agent wait for results?

Crawl duration depends on the number of URLs and site complexity. The agent checks snapshot status periodically using Bright Data's status API. For quick scrapes of a few pages, results often return in seconds. For larger jobs, the agent can report progress and deliver results once the crawl completes.

Can I control which websites the agent is allowed to scrape?

Yes. Configure allowed domains and URL patterns in your agent settings. You can also restrict which Bright Data zones the agent accesses, limiting it to specific scraping products. This ensures the agent only collects data from approved sources.

Does the agent use Bright Data's residential or datacenter proxies?

The proxy type depends on your Bright Data zone configuration. Web Unlocker automatically selects the best proxy type for each request. SERP searches use dedicated SERP API infrastructure. You control proxy preferences in your Bright Data dashboard, not in Tars.
