How does the AI agent perform reverse geocoding with Yandex?

The agent sends latitude and longitude coordinates to Yandex's Geocoder Reverse API, which returns the closest matching address including street name, building number, city, and country. You can filter results by kind, such as 'house' for exact building matches, for more precise location identification.

Can the agent search for specific types of businesses near a location?

Yes. The agent uses Yandex's Organization Search API with text queries and geographic boundaries (bounding box or center point with span). It returns business names, addresses, categories, and contact details. You can search by name, address, or even tax identification numbers.

What Yandex API access does Tars need?

Tars connects via OAuth to your Yandex account. API keys for Geocoder, Places, and Routes are managed through the Yandex Developer Dashboard. Key activation takes up to 15 minutes. Each API may require separate keys depending on your Yandex plan.

Does Tars store location data from Yandex queries?

No. Geocoding results, business search results, and route calculations are fetched in real time from Yandex during conversations. Tars does not cache or store location data. Each query produces fresh results from Yandex's current database.

Can the agent calculate truck routes with vehicle dimension constraints?

Yes. The Route API supports truck mode with parameters for height, width, length, weight, axle weight, payload, and eco class. The agent passes these vehicle specifications and returns routes that respect dimensional and weight restrictions on roads.

How is using Yandex through Tars different from embedding Yandex Maps directly?

Embedded maps require users to interact with a visual interface. Tars makes Yandex location data conversational. Customers describe what they need in natural language and get addresses, directions, and business results as text responses, working across WhatsApp, SMS, and web chat without visual map dependencies.

The agent passes a lang parameter to Yandex APIs. Supported language-region combinations include ru_RU, en_US, en_RU, uk_UA, be_BY, and tr_TR. Results are returned in the specified language with regionally appropriate formatting.

Yes. The Route API supports multiple transport modes including driving, walking, transit (public transport), bicycle, and scooter. The agent specifies the mode parameter and returns the appropriate route with estimated travel time for that transport method.
