How does the AI agent search for events on Ticketmaster?

The agent uses Ticketmaster's Get Events endpoint with filters for city, country, classification name, genre, attraction ID, date range, and keyword. Ticketmaster returns matching events with details including name, date, venue, price ranges, and availability status. Results are paginated for large result sets.

Can the agent filter events by genre or event type?

Yes. Ticketmaster's classification system organizes events into segments (Music, Sports, Arts and Theatre, etc.), genres, and subgenres. The agent uses classificationName, genreId, or segmentId parameters to narrow results to exactly the type of event the user is looking for.

What Ticketmaster credentials does Tars need?

Tars supports both API key authentication (generated from the Ticketmaster Developer Portal) and OAuth 2.0 authorization. The API key provides access to the Discovery API for searching events, venues, attractions, and classifications. OAuth is available for deeper integrations.

Does the agent show ticket prices and availability?

The Get Event Details endpoint returns price range information when available from Ticketmaster's data. The agent can share minimum and maximum ticket prices for an event. For real-time availability and purchasing, the agent provides direct links to the Ticketmaster event page.

Can the agent search for events by a specific artist or team?

Yes. The agent first searches Ticketmaster's Attractions API by name to find the artist or team ID. Then it queries events filtered by that attraction ID to return all upcoming shows for that performer. This two-step process ensures accurate results for artist-specific searches.

Does Tars store event data from Ticketmaster?

No. Event searches, venue lookups, and attraction queries are performed live via Ticketmaster's API during each conversation. Data is used to respond to the user and is not cached or stored on Tars servers. Every search returns the latest available information.

How does the auto-suggest feature work in conversations?

The agent sends partial keywords to Ticketmaster's Get Suggestions endpoint, which returns auto-complete matches for events, attractions, and venues. This helps users find what they want even if they cannot remember the exact name or spelling of an artist or event.

Can the agent find events happening at a specific venue?

Yes. The agent can retrieve venue details by ID via Get Venue Details, or search for events filtered by venue using the Events endpoint. Users can ask about upcoming shows at their favorite arena and get a complete schedule of events at that location.
