How does the AI agent fetch odds from multiple bookmakers at once?

The agent calls The Odds API's Get Odds endpoint with sport key, regions (US, UK, EU, AU), and market types (h2h, spreads, totals). The API aggregates odds from all available bookmakers in the specified regions and returns them in a single response. The agent presents the comparison to the user.

What sports does The Odds API cover?

The Odds API covers 70+ sports and leagues worldwide including NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, Premier League, La Liga, Champions League, UFC, tennis, golf, and more. The Get Sports endpoint returns all currently in-season sports, with an option to include out-of-season leagues.

What API credentials does Tars need for The Odds API?

Tars requires your Odds API key, which you generate from The Odds API developer portal. The key provides access to sports, events, odds, scores, and participants endpoints. API usage is metered by credits, with basic searches using 1 credit and advanced searches using 2.

Can the agent filter odds by specific bookmakers?

Yes. The bookmakers parameter accepts a comma-separated list of bookmaker keys like draftkings, fanduel, or bet365. The agent retrieves odds only from the specified books, useful when users have preferences or want to compare specific sportsbooks.

How current are the scores returned by the API?

Scores are updated in real time for live events. The Get Scores endpoint returns both live and recently completed game scores, with a daysFrom parameter to control the time window (0-3 days). Timestamps are available in ISO or Unix format.

Does Tars store sports betting data from The Odds API?

No. All odds, scores, and event data are fetched live from The Odds API during each conversation. Data is used to respond to the user's query and is not cached or stored on Tars servers. Each request returns the most current information available.

What odds formats are supported?

The Odds API supports decimal, American, and fractional odds formats via the oddsFormat parameter. The agent can present odds in whichever format the user prefers. Decimal is the default, but American format is standard for US sports bettors.

Can the agent retrieve odds for a single specific event?

Yes. The Get Event Odds endpoint accepts a specific eventId and sport key, returning detailed odds from all available bookmakers for just that event. This is more efficient than fetching all events when the user already knows which game they want.
