What data does Taggun extract from receipts?

Taggun extracts merchant name, address, phone number, date, time, total amount, subtotal, tax amount and rate, currency, individual line items with descriptions and prices, and payment method. The extraction is real-time and returns structured JSON that the agent uses to populate expense records.

What image formats does Taggun accept?

Taggun accepts JPEG, PNG, and PDF documents. The agent sends the image or document to Taggun's API endpoint, and the OCR engine processes it regardless of format. For best results, images should be clear with readable text, though Taggun handles moderate blur and skew.

How accurate is the receipt data extraction?

Taggun is built for high-accuracy real-time receipt OCR. Accuracy depends on image quality, but Taggun performs well on standard thermal receipts, printed invoices, and handwritten totals. The agent presents extracted data with confidence indicators when available, and flags uncertain fields for human verification.

What authentication does Taggun require?

Taggun uses API key authentication. You receive the key upon registration at taggun.io and enter it into the Tars tool configuration. The key is sent as a header with each API request. No OAuth flow or additional setup is needed.

Does Tars store the receipt images or extracted data?

No. Tars sends the image to Taggun for processing and uses the returned data to generate the agent's response. Neither the original image nor the extracted text is stored by Tars. Your financial documents remain transient in the conversation and are not persisted.

Can the agent handle international receipts with different languages?

Yes. Taggun's OCR supports receipts in multiple languages and character sets. The agent sends the image regardless of language, and Taggun extracts the relevant fields. Currency codes and amounts are identified even on non-English receipts, making it suitable for global expense management.
