Frequently Asked Questions

How does the AI agent create payment tokens in Skyfire?

The agent calls Skyfire's Create PAY Token endpoint with the seller service ID, maximum charge amount as a decimal string, and expiration timestamp. Skyfire returns a JWT token the agent passes to the seller when calling their API. The seller charges up to the authorized amount.

What is the difference between PAY, KYA, and KYA+PAY tokens?

PAY tokens authorize payment only. KYA (Know Your Agent) tokens verify the agent's identity without payment. KYA+PAY tokens combine both, allowing sellers to verify the agent's identity and charge for the service in a single flow. Your agent selects the appropriate type based on seller requirements.

Can I set spending limits for the AI agent?

Yes. Each payment token includes a maximum charge amount set by the agent. You control this through your agent's training and policy configuration. Additionally, the agent checks wallet balance before creating tokens, and you control how much funds are in the Skyfire wallet.

Does Tars have access to my Skyfire wallet funds?

Tars creates tokens on your behalf using the Skyfire API, but each token has an explicit maximum amount you control. The agent cannot withdraw funds directly. It creates authorization tokens that sellers charge against, always within the limits you set.

How does the service directory work?

Skyfire maintains a marketplace of services that accept agentic payments. Your agent browses this directory by searching with keywords, filtering by category or tags like 'ai' or 'data', and comparing prices. Once it finds the right service, it obtains the seller service ID needed to create a payment token.

Can the agent audit past transactions?

Yes. The agent can list all buyer tokens with optional date and status filters, then retrieve charge details for any specific token. This shows exactly what was authorized versus what was actually charged, enabling automated reconciliation at any scale.

What happens if a payment token expires before the seller uses it?

Expired tokens cannot be charged. The agent can introspect tokens to check their validity before use. If a token has expired, the agent creates a new one. No funds are deducted for expired, uncharged tokens. Setting appropriate expiration windows (5-10 minutes for one-time use) minimizes waste.

Is Skyfire's payment system compatible with traditional payment processors?
