How does the AI agent handle websites protected by Cloudflare or Akamai?

The agent uses Scrape.do's super mode, which routes requests through residential and mobile proxies. Combined with automatic CAPTCHA handling and browser fingerprint rotation, it bypasses most anti-bot protections including Cloudflare, Akamai, and DataDome. For especially tough targets, retry timeout settings ensure multiple attempts before returning an error.

Can the agent render JavaScript-heavy single-page applications?

Yes. The agent activates Scrape.do's headless browser rendering with configurable wait conditions. It can wait for specific CSS selectors to appear, set custom delays after page load up to 35 seconds, and choose between domcontentloaded, networkidle0, or networkidle2 navigation states to ensure dynamic content is fully loaded.

What authentication does Tars need to connect to Scrape.do?

Just your Scrape.do API token, which you find in your Scrape.do dashboard. Enter it once in the Tars Tools section. The token authenticates all scraping requests. You can generate a new token or revoke access at any time from your Scrape.do account settings.

Does the agent store scraped web page content?

No. Scraped content is fetched in real-time from Scrape.do and used only to respond to the active conversation. Page HTML, screenshots, and extracted data are not stored in a persistent database. Each request is independent and results are discarded after the response is delivered.

Can I control which geographic region the scraping request originates from?

Yes. The agent supports both country-level targeting with two-letter geo codes like 'us' or 'gb', and broader regional targeting through Scrape.do's regional geo codes for areas like Europe, Asia, or North America. Regional targeting requires super mode and is available on Business Plan or higher.

What happens if a target website redirects to a different URL?

By default, Scrape.do follows redirects automatically. If you need to inspect redirect chains or capture intermediate responses, the agent can disable automatic redirection. The redirect target URL appears in the response headers, giving you full control over multi-step navigation flows.

How is Scrape.do different from using a basic HTTP request or cURL?

Basic HTTP tools lack proxy rotation, CAPTCHA solving, browser rendering, and anti-bot bypass. Scrape.do handles all of these automatically through 110M+ IP addresses across datacenter, residential, and mobile networks. The AI agent simply sends the URL and receives clean content without managing any proxy infrastructure.

Can the agent take screenshots of specific page sections instead of the full page?

Yes. The agent supports CSS selector-based screenshot capture through Scrape.do. Specify a selector like '#pricing-table' and only that element is captured. Full-page screenshots are also available. Both options work with JavaScript rendering enabled for dynamic content.
