How does the AI agent search for posts across Reddit?

The agent uses Reddit's search endpoint to query across all subreddits by keyword. You can control the sort order (relevance, hot, new, top, comments) and restrict results to specific subreddits or search broadly. Results include post titles, scores, author details, and comment counts for quick scanning.

Can the agent post to subreddits that require post flair?

Yes. The agent first fetches available link flair templates for the target subreddit using Reddit's flair API. Once it has the valid flair IDs, it includes the appropriate flair when creating the post. This prevents rejection from subreddits with mandatory flair requirements.

What Reddit OAuth scopes does Tars request?

Tars requests identity, read, vote, submit, flair, and edit scopes. These allow the agent to read posts and comments, create new submissions, apply flair, and edit existing content. You authorize via Reddit's standard OAuth flow and can revoke access from your Reddit preferences at any time.

Does Tars store Reddit post or comment data?

No. All Reddit data is fetched in real time during conversations and used only within the active session. Post content, comments, user profiles, and subreddit information are not persisted in any Tars database. Each query hits Reddit's API live.

What happens if the agent tries to post in a subreddit with posting restrictions?

If a subreddit has karma requirements, approval restrictions, or mandatory flair, the agent reports the specific error back in the conversation. For flair requirements, it automatically fetches available flairs and retries. For other restrictions, it alerts your team so they can take the appropriate manual action.
