How does the AI agent search records in my Ragic database?

The agent uses Ragic's API to perform full-text searches on specific sheets. You configure the sheet path (like 'sales/1' or 'support/2'), and the agent queries by keywords matching any field in the record. Results include all columns on the sheet, giving the agent full context to answer the customer's question.

Can the agent search across multiple Ragic sheets in one conversation?

Yes. You can configure multiple Ragic tool instances in Tars, each pointing to a different sheet path. The agent determines which sheet to query based on the customer's question. A billing question searches the invoices sheet, while a product question searches the inventory sheet.

What Ragic credentials does Tars need?

Tars requires your Ragic API key (found in Personal Settings > Profile) and your server location code (like 'na3', 'ap5', or 'eu2'). These credentials provide access to search records on the sheets you configure. The API key inherits the permissions of your Ragic user account.

Does Tars store copies of my Ragic database records?

No. Tars queries Ragic in real time during conversations. Records are fetched live from your Ragic sheets and used only to respond to the current conversation. No data is cached or replicated by Tars.

Can the agent access subtable data within Ragic records?

Yes. The Ragic API supports including subtable information in search results. By default, subtables are included when the agent retrieves records. You can also configure the agent to exclude subtables for simpler responses when the detail is not needed.

Does the agent respect Ragic's fixed filters and permission settings?

Yes. The agent searches using the permissions of the API key's associated user. Fixed filters on sheets are applied unless the user has SYSAdmin privileges and the agent is configured to bypass them. Masked fields remain masked unless the user belongs to the viewable groups.

How is this different from Ragic's own listing page search?

Ragic's listing page requires users to log in, navigate to the right sheet, and apply filters. Tars brings that search capability into a conversation. Customers and team members ask questions in plain language, and the agent handles the sheet selection, search query, and result formatting automatically.

Can the agent show when a record was created and by whom?

Yes. The Ragic API supports an 'info' parameter that adds creation date and creator information to search results. The agent can include this metadata when answering questions about record provenance or audit trail inquiries.
