How does the AI agent determine a customer's location from their address?

The agent uses Radar's forward geocoding API to convert a street address into precise latitude and longitude coordinates. Radar supports addresses in 200+ countries and returns structured data including street, city, state, postal code, and confidence score. The agent can then use these coordinates for distance calculations or geofence checks.

Can the agent check if a delivery address is within my service area?

Yes. After geocoding the customer's address, the agent searches for geofences near that location using Radar's geofence search API. If your service area boundaries are defined as Radar geofences, the agent instantly confirms whether the address falls inside or outside your coverage zone.

What Radar API key type does Tars require?

Tars uses a Radar server-side API key (secret key) for authentication. This key provides access to geocoding, search, routing, geofencing, and trip tracking endpoints. You can generate and manage API keys in your Radar dashboard and revoke access at any time.

Does Tars store customer location data from Radar?

No. Tars makes real-time API calls to Radar during conversations. Geocoded addresses, route calculations, and geofence results are fetched live and used only to respond to the current conversation. No location data is stored separately by Tars.

Can the agent track a live delivery and share ETAs with customers?

Yes. If your deliveries are tracked as Radar trips, the agent retrieves the trip by its ID or external ID. It returns the current status (started, approaching, arrived), estimated distance and duration to the destination, and any custom metadata like order numbers attached to the trip.

How accurate is Radar's geocoding compared to Google Maps?

Radar processes over 1 billion API calls daily with 99.99% uptime and coverage across 200+ countries. Yes. The agent uses Radar's places search API to find locations near the customer's coordinates, filtered by brand name, category, or custom tags. It returns results with distance, address, and metadata. You can also use your own geofences as the search layer for custom location data.

Does the integration work with Radar's IP geocoding for anonymous visitors?

Yes. Even before a customer shares their address, the agent can use Radar's IP geocoding to determine their approximate city, state, and country. This helps personalize the conversation from the first message, such as showing relevant store hours or regional product availability.
