How does the AI agent validate an address through PostGrid Verify?

The agent sends the address to PostGrid Verify's batch verification endpoint. PostGrid checks it against USPS and Canada Post databases, corrects formatting issues, appends ZIP+4 codes, and returns the standardized address along with a verification status. All of this happens live during the conversation.

Can the agent verify international addresses or only US and Canada?

PostGrid Verify primarily supports US and Canadian addresses with CASS and SERP certification. International address parsing is available for over 245 countries, but the deepest validation (carrier routes, delivery points) applies to US and Canadian addresses.

How many addresses can the agent verify in a single batch request?

PostGrid Verify supports batch requests of up to 2,000 addresses at once. The agent submits the full list in a single API call and returns each address with its verified, corrected, or flagged status. This is ideal for cleaning mailing lists before direct mail campaigns.

Does Tars store the addresses submitted for verification?

No. Addresses are sent to PostGrid Verify's API in real time and the results are returned directly to the conversation. Tars does not cache, store, or log the submitted address data. Your address records stay between you and PostGrid.

What happens when PostGrid Verify cannot confirm an address?

The agent communicates the specific issue to the user. It might report that the street number does not exist, the ZIP code does not match the city, or the unit number is missing. The user can then correct the information and resubmit for another verification attempt.

Can the agent auto-fill city and state from just a ZIP code?

Yes. The agent calls PostGrid Verify's Lookup City State from Postal endpoint. It returns all valid city and state combinations for that ZIP code. If multiple cities share a ZIP code, the agent presents the options and lets the user confirm the correct one.

How is this different from the main PostGrid integration?

PostGrid (print and mail) handles sending physical letters, postcards, and cheques. PostGrid Verify focuses solely on address validation and standardization. Use PostGrid Verify to clean addresses first, then PostGrid to send mail to those verified addresses.

What PostGrid API credentials does this integration require?

You need your PostGrid Verify API key, available in the Developers section of your PostGrid dashboard. This key is separate from the Print and Mail API key. The integration uses it for read operations (verification and lookup) and does not modify any account settings.
