How does the AI agent run blacklist checks through MxToolbox?

The agent uses MxToolbox's Blacklist Lookup API, passing a domain name or IP address. MxToolbox checks the target against over 100 DNS-based email blacklists and returns the status for each. The agent presents which lists have flagged the domain and which are clear, all in a conversational response.

Can the agent check SPF, DKIM, and DMARC in a single conversation?

Yes. The agent can run all three lookups sequentially for any domain. SPF retrieval uses the SPF lookup endpoint, DKIM uses the DKIM endpoint with domain and selector, and DMARC uses the DMARC endpoint. Results from all three can be compiled into a single email authentication summary.

What MxToolbox API credentials does Tars need?

Tars requires your MxToolbox API key, which you obtain from your MxToolbox account under API Settings. The key authenticates all lookup requests and usage counts against your plan's monthly quota. Free accounts get a limited number of lookups, while paid plans offer higher limits.

Does Tars store DNS or email diagnostic results from MxToolbox?

No. The agent runs MxToolbox lookups in real time during each conversation. DNS records, blacklist results, and email authentication data are fetched live and used only for the active interaction. We do not cache or store diagnostic results separately.

Can the agent check the health of all my monitored domains at once?

Yes. The Monitor Status endpoint retrieves health details for all monitors configured in your MxToolbox account. The agent presents the current status of each monitored domain, including any alerts or degraded conditions, giving your team a quick infrastructure overview.

How is this different from running lookups on the MxToolbox website?

The MxToolbox website requires you to visit the page, enter a domain, and read the results manually for each check.
