Frequently Asked Questions

How does the AI agent score habits and dailies on Habitica?

The agent calls Habitica's Score Task API with the task ID and direction ('up' for completion, 'down' for missed). Habitica returns the updated stats including XP gained, gold earned, and any HP lost. The agent relays these results so you see your character's progress without opening the app.

Can I create all four Habitica task types through the agent?

Yes. The agent supports creating habits, dailies, todos, and rewards through the Create Task API. Each type accepts its specific parameters: habits get up/down buttons, dailies get recurrence schedules, todos get due dates, and rewards get gold costs. Every field maps directly to Habitica's task system.

What Habitica credentials does Tars need?

Tars requires your Habitica User ID and API Token, both found in Habitica's Settings under API. These authenticate requests to Habitica's REST API. Tars never accesses your Habitica password. You can regenerate your API token in Habitica settings at any time to revoke access.

Does Tars store my Habitica character data or task history?

No. The agent queries Habitica in real time for each request. Character stats, task lists, and inventory data are fetched live and used only for the current conversation. Tars does not maintain a copy of your Habitica profile or task records.

Can the agent manage group challenges and party quests?

Yes. The integration supports creating challenges in guilds, adding tasks to challenges, inviting members to parties, and retrieving quest progress. Your agent can set up a challenge, monitor participation, and report boss battle status, all through conversation.

How is this different from using the Habitica mobile app?

The Habitica app requires you to open it, navigate to each task, and tap to complete. With Tars, you describe what you did in natural language and the agent handles all the scoring and task management. Batch-complete multiple habits in one message instead of tapping through them individually.

Can the agent handle recurring daily tasks with custom schedules?

Yes. When creating dailies, the agent supports frequency settings (daily, weekly, monthly), specific days of the week, everyX intervals, and start dates. Your custom recurrence schedules transfer exactly to Habitica's daily task system through the API.

What happens if I try to score a task that is already completed?

Habitica handles this based on task type. Scoring a completed daily again is a no-op. Scoring a habit always works since habits can be scored multiple times. For todos, scoring a completed one toggles it back to incomplete. The agent relays Habitica's response so you always know the current state.
