What file formats can the AI agent convert using Conversion Tools?

Through the Tars integration, the agent handles Excel-to-CSV, Excel-to-HTML, Word-to-text, Markdown-to-HTML, OXPS-to-PDF, website-to-PDF, and website-to-PNG conversions. It also supports AI-powered JPG-to-JSON extraction. Conversion Tools itself supports 100+ formats, and the agent can access any endpoint exposed through the API.

How does the agent handle file uploads during a conversation?

The agent can accept file URLs shared by customers or use the Upload File endpoint to send binary content to Conversion Tools' servers. Once uploaded, the file receives a unique file_id that the agent passes to the appropriate conversion endpoint. Converted files are then retrieved using the Download File endpoint.

Are uploaded files deleted after conversion, or does Conversion Tools store them?

Conversion Tools deletes uploaded files immediately after conversion completes. Converted output files are automatically removed after 24 hours. All transfers use AES-256 encryption and TLS 1.3. Tars itself does not store copies of any files processed through the integration.

Can the agent convert website pages to PDF with specific page ranges?

Yes. The website-to-PDF endpoint accepts a pages parameter for specifying ranges like '1-5,7'. The agent can also set custom filenames for the output PDF. The conversion runs asynchronously and returns a task_id that the agent polls until the PDF is ready for download.

What delimiter options are available for Excel-to-CSV conversion?

The agent can specify comma, semicolon, pipe, or tab delimiters when converting Excel files to CSV. It also supports the quote_all option to wrap all fields in quotes and the utf8_bom option for encoding compatibility. These settings ensure the CSV output matches whatever system the customer needs to import into.

How do I get the API token needed for the Conversion Tools integration?

Sign up at conversiontools.io and navigate to your Profile page. Your API token is generated automatically when your account is created. Copy the token and paste it into the Tars dashboard when adding the Conversion Tools integration. Free accounts support files up to 10 MB, while paid plans handle files up to 100 GB.

Can the agent extract structured data from images like receipts or invoices?

Yes. The AI JPG-to-JSON endpoint uses machine learning to extract structured information from images. The agent sends a JPG file or URL and receives organized JSON output. This works for receipts, tables, business cards, and other documents with recognizable structure, though results depend on image quality and layout complexity.
