Tars uses one API call per customer question that requires market data, so plan sizing depends on your daily conversation volume.

How does the AI agent retrieve a specific cryptocurrency price?

The agent calls CoinMarketCap's Cryptocurrency Quotes Latest endpoint using the coin's symbol, slug, or CoinMarketCap ID. It returns the current price, market cap, 24-hour volume, and percent change. The query runs in real time during the conversation, so data reflects the latest update cycle, typically within 60 seconds.

Can the agent convert between any pair of crypto and fiat currencies?

Yes. The Price Conversion endpoint supports conversion between any cryptocurrency and over 40 fiat currencies including USD, EUR, GBP, and JPY. You can also convert crypto-to-crypto, such as BTC to ETH. The agent handles the amount, source, and target parameters automatically based on what the user asks.

Does Tars cache or store CoinMarketCap pricing data?

No. Every price query fetches live data from CoinMarketCap's API during the conversation. Tars does not maintain a local database of market data. Once the conversation ends, the retrieved data is not retained. This ensures users always receive the most current pricing available.

What happens if a customer asks about an obscure altcoin the agent cannot find?
