What document formats can the AI agent produce through Carbone?

Carbone supports rendering into PDF, DOCX, XLSX, ODT, PPTX, ODS, CSV, XML, and plain text. Your AI agent can generate any of these formats during a conversation, depending on the template you provide. The same template can output multiple formats without redesigning.

How does the AI agent merge customer data into a Carbone template?

The agent collects information during the conversation, structures it as JSON, then sends it to Carbone's render endpoint along with the template ID. Carbone replaces placeholder tags in the template with actual values. The result is a fully formatted document returned as a downloadable file.

Do I need to design templates inside Tars?

No. You design templates in your preferred editor like Microsoft Word, LibreOffice, or Google Docs, then export them as DOCX or ODT. Upload the template to Carbone through the dashboard or API. Carbone uses a mustache-like syntax for dynamic fields, so your design team keeps full creative control.

Does Tars store copies of the generated documents?

Tars does not maintain a permanent archive of rendered files. Documents are generated on-demand through Carbone's API and delivered to the customer in the conversation. Carbone retains render outputs temporarily for download. You control retention by configuring your own storage or webhook endpoints.

Can the agent handle batch document generation for multiple recipients?

Yes. Carbone's batch processing lets you render multiple documents from a single template in one API call. The agent can pass an array of records, and Carbone returns a ZIP or merged PDF. This is useful for bulk invoice runs or personalized letters triggered by a single customer request.

What authentication does the Carbone integration require?

You provide your Carbone API key in the Tars dashboard when connecting the tool. All API requests from the agent are authenticated with this key. Carbone uses HTTPS for all communication. You can rotate your API key anytime from the Carbone dashboard without reconfiguring the agent.

How is this different from generating PDFs with a generic HTML-to-PDF tool?

Carbone preserves the exact formatting of your Office or LibreOffice templates, including headers, footers, page breaks, tables, and conditional sections. HTML-to-PDF converters require you to rebuild layouts in code. With Carbone, non-technical staff design templates visually, and the output matches what they see in their editor.
