Ambient Weather
Your AI agent accesses live readings from 250,000+ Ambient Weather stations. Answer customer questions about local conditions, trigger smart home automations, and deliver hyperlocal weather insights without manual lookups.

Your AI agent pulls live readings directly from personal weather stations - temperature, humidity, wind, rain, UV index, and barometric pressure - all accessible mid-conversation.
Ambient Weather
See how businesses leverage personal weather station data through AI conversations - from property management to agriculture and event planning.
A golf course superintendent messages asking if sprinklers should run tonight. Your AI agent retrieves rainfall totals, soil moisture sensor data, and current humidity from their Ambient Weather station network. It calculates that 0.8 inches fell yesterday and humidity remains above 70%. The agent recommends skipping irrigation, saving water costs and preventing overwatering damage.
A wedding venue coordinator checks conditions before an outdoor ceremony. Your AI agent pulls temperature, wind speed, and UV index from the on-site weather station. Finding 15 mph gusts and rising barometric pressure, it suggests securing lighter decorations and confirms the rain chance is low. The coordinator gets actionable intel without checking multiple apps.
A vineyard owner receives a frost warning notification. They message your AI agent asking about current conditions at their property. The agent retrieves temperature readings from all their station sensors, finding one field at 35 degrees while others remain at 42. It pinpoints exactly which rows need frost protection, enabling targeted intervention instead of blanket coverage.

FAQs
Your agent can retrieve all sensor data your station collects including outdoor and indoor temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, wind speed and direction, wind gust, rainfall rates, daily/weekly/monthly rain totals, UV index, solar radiation, and battery status. The specific data available depends on which sensors your station model includes.
Ambient Weather stations upload data in 5-minute or 30-minute intervals depending on your settings. When your agent queries the API, it receives the most recent upload from each station. For applications requiring sub-minute updates, consider using Ambient Weather's real-time websocket connection for near-instantaneous readings.
Yes, the Get Devices endpoint returns all weather stations registered to your Ambient Weather account. Your agent can query any or all stations, making it ideal for property managers, farmers with multiple fields, or businesses with distributed locations needing consolidated weather monitoring.
You need an AmbientWeather.net account with API access enabled. The API key is available from your account page. Basic data access comes with your weather station registration - no premium subscription required. However, some advanced features like historical data exports may require their Data Suite subscription.
Tars requires only your API key and Application key - both generated from your AmbientWeather.net account settings. These keys provide read-only access to your device list and sensor data. Tars cannot modify your station settings, delete data, or access your account credentials.
While the Ambient Weather app and Alexa skill display readings on demand, Tars enables conversational intelligence. Your agent can combine weather data with business logic - like recommending irrigation schedules based on rainfall, alerting specific team members when conditions exceed thresholds, or answering natural language questions about trends across multiple stations.
The Ambient Weather API provides current readings which your agent can evaluate against thresholds you define. While Ambient Weather Network has its own alerting system, your Tars agent adds conversational follow-up - explaining why an alert triggered, recommending actions, and answering questions about the conditions that caused it.
If a station is offline, the API returns the last known readings along with the timestamp of that data. Your agent can recognize stale data and inform users that readings are from a specific time ago, or fall back to nearby stations if you have multiple devices registered to your account.
Don't limit your AI Agent to basic conversations. Watch how to configure and add powerful tools making your agent smarter and more functional.
