A Star Rating gambit shows a row of stars with the hint “Tap a star to rate”. Tapping a star sends the rating immediately, as a number.

When to use it

Use it to close a conversation with a satisfaction score, or to qualify how strongly the end user feels before you branch. The rating arrives as a number, so a condition can split high scores from low ones. For CSAT on conversations a human agent handled, see Collect CSAT ratings instead. That survey runs on the live chat side, not through this gambit.

The gambit and its editor

Every page in this section shows the same demo flow: Start, a Welcome message, the gambit this page covers, then End. The gambit sits third, selected, with its editor open on the right. The rest of the screen is dimmed.

Configuration

On WhatsApp, the stars arrive as a list. The Low Rating Label shows under the first row and the High Rating Label under the last row. WhatsApp shows the first 72 characters of each label.
Maximum Stars, Low Rating Label, and High Rating Label are stored outside the gambit’s config, so the flow export and import do not carry them. Set all three by hand after importing a flow.

Branching on the score

With Allow Free Text on, the gambit carries two handles: Rating for a tapped score, and Free Input for a typed answer. With it off, the gambit has one Default handle, and every rating leaves through it. To split the scores, turn on Conditions and compare the captured number. Its branches and a Default handle then replace the handles above.
