Date & Time gambit - Tars Docs

A Date & Time gambit shows an inline calendar or time list in the conversation. The chosen value appears as a chip in the composer, ready to send.

When to use it

Use it for any answer that is a point in time: a delivery day, an appointment time, a date of birth. The bounds keep the end user inside a window you control, so the flow never has to reject a date after the fact.

The gambit and its editor

Every page in this section shows the same demo flow: Start, a Welcome message, the gambit this page covers, then End. The gambit sits third, selected, with its editor open on the right. The rest of the screen is dimmed.

Configuration

Setting	What it does
Date Format	The display format: DD/MM/YYYY, MM/DD/YYYY, YYYY-MM-DD, or DD-MM-YYYY. It defaults to DD/MM/YYYY and is hidden in Time Only mode.
Minimum Date and Maximum Date	Pickers that bound what the end user can select. In Time Only mode they read Minimum Time and Maximum Time.
Picker Mode	Three buttons: Date Only, Date & Time, and Time Only. A new gambit uses Date Only. Switching mode clears both bounds.
Allow Skip	Lets the end user move past the gambit without answering, with an arrow button in the composer.
Allow Free Text	Lets the end user type instead of using the picker. It is on for a new gambit.

Each bound has a clear icon beside it, which removes that bound without changing the mode.

Branching

With Allow Free Text on, picked values leave through the Date Picker handle, and typed answers through Free Input. With it off, the gambit has one Default handle. While Conditions is on, its branches replace these handles. See Flow control and branching.
