At the end of this page, you have an audience campaign sent or scheduled, and you know how to pause, cancel, clone, or re-send it.
This capability needs the plan or higher.

Before you start

Before you start, sign in to the dashboard and select the organization you want to work in. This page covers audience campaigns. For API-triggered sends, see Run webhook campaigns.

Build the campaign

1

Open Campaigns and select Create Campaign

The campaign builder opens. Save Draft keeps your work at any point once the campaign has a name.
2

Enter a name under Campaign Name, and keep Audience under Campaign Mode

The mode cannot be changed after creation.
3

Under Channel, select the WhatsApp number that sends the messages

Only numbers connected to an agent can be picked. The list also offers Connect channel.
4

Under Template, select an approved template

If no template fits, select Create new template in the list.
5

Map each template variable

For each variable, choose a source such as Contact field or Static text. A fallback value is optional.
6

If the template has a media header, upload the file under Header Media

Drop a JPG or PNG up to 5 MB, an MP4 up to 16 MB, or a PDF up to 16 MB. Use Replace or Remove to change it.
7

Under Audience, select a segment

The list also offers Create segment.
8

Review the audience counts

The preview shows Matching, Opted in, the excluded end users grouped by reason, and Will reach.
9

Optionally, select Preview contacts

A sample of the end users who will receive the message appears.
10

Optionally, choose an Entry Gambit under Reply Handling

Replies then start at that gambit. See Handle campaign replies.

Why end users are excluded

The audience preview names three exclusion reasons. Excluded end users are not charged for. If no recipient is eligible, the send stays disabled. The builder reports that the audience has no reachable end users for this channel, so fix the segment or the consent state first.

Send or schedule

Once sending starts, a campaign cannot be cancelled. You can only pause and resume it. Check the audience and template before you send.
1

Under Delivery, choose Send Now or Schedule

For Schedule, pick the date and time. The picker shows the time zone.
2

Check the estimated cost

Estimated cost shows the total, the message count, and the price per message. If your balance is short, Insufficient credits shows it.
3

Select Send Campaign or Schedule Campaign

Send Campaign starts delivery at once. Schedule Campaign sends once at the time you picked.

What happens before delivery

The approved template version is pinned when the campaign launches, and a scheduled campaign is re-checked before it fires. Each WhatsApp number runs one audience campaign at a time, so a launch on a number that already has a running campaign is rejected. A template with a media header cannot be sent or scheduled until the header media is uploaded. The error starts with media_missing and names the media type the header needs. If a scheduled campaign’s media becomes unavailable before it fires, the campaign fails with media_missing and asks you to upload it again. For the pinning, eligibility, and delivery rules in full, see Campaigns overview.

Manage a campaign

Open the campaign to reach its Edit and Analytics tabs and its actions.
  • Pause stops a running campaign and keeps it resumable. Resume continues delivery.
  • Clone to Edit on the campaign page, or Clone in the campaign list menu, copies the campaign into a new draft.
  • Re-send to failed appears on a completed or cancelled campaign that has failed deliveries. Confirm with Create draft to get a new draft that targets only those end users.
  • Archive in the campaign list menu hides a completed, cancelled, or failed campaign. You can unarchive it later.
Cancelling is permanent. A cancelled campaign never sends, and it cannot be resumed.
A scheduled campaign can be cancelled until sending starts. Select Cancel campaign on the campaign page, then confirm in the Cancel campaign? dialog. Unspent reserved funds return to your campaign wallet. After sending starts, the button is disabled. Admins can also Delete a campaign from the list menu. Deleting removes the campaign and all its delivery data for good.

Verify

The campaign list shows the campaign with its current status. Open its Analytics tab to watch deliveries arrive. See Read campaign reports.
