At the end of this page, your organization runs on Premium with the conversation volume and billing period you chose. You also know how to read the plan card, change the billing period, and cancel or undo a cancellation.

Before you start

Before you start, sign in to the dashboard and select the organization you want to work in.
  • You need the Admin or Billing role. Members with the Auditor role can open Billing but see no upgrade buttons. When the upgrade dialog opens for another role, its Premium card shows Ask billing admin instead of checkout.
  • Only a Free organization can upgrade from the dashboard. Enterprise organizations change their contract through their account manager. See Enterprise below.

Read the Billing page

Open Settings and select Billing. The page header reads “Plan, usage, seats and payments.” and has two tabs: Overview and Campaign wallet. On a Free organization the header shows an Upgrade to Premium button. On a paid plan it shows Manage billing, which opens the Stripe billing portal in a new tab.

The plan card

The card at the top of Overview shows your plan and this cycle’s conversation count. Below the badge, the Plan conversations section shows how many conversations are left, a usage bar, and a status pill such as Healthy or Getting close. On Free the section ends with an Upgrade for more link. On Premium without conversation packs it ends with a Buy more button, described on Conversation usage.

The Plan limits card

On Free, a Plan limits card sits under the plan card. It lists Agents, Knowledge bases, and Tools with a bar and a count such as 2 / 2. When you try to create a resource past its limit, an error message names the limit and asks you to upgrade. On Premium these three limits are unlimited and the card does not appear.

Upgrade to Premium

1

Open Settings and select Billing

On the Overview tab, select Upgrade to Premium in the page header.
2

Review the plans in the dialog

A dialog titled Explore TARS plans opens with three cards: Free, Premium, and Enterprise. Your current plan card carries a Current label and a disabled Current plan button.
3

Choose Monthly or Yearly

Use the Monthly / Yearly switch above the cards. With Yearly on, a Save badge shows the discount percentage and the Premium price becomes a per-year amount.
4

Select a conversation volume

On the Premium card, drag the Conversations required per month slider. The labels under the slider show each available volume, for example 2K. The price above the slider updates as you move it.
5

Start checkout from the Premium card

Select Upgrade to Premium on the Premium card. The button reads Redirecting… while the Stripe checkout page opens in the same tab.
6

Pay in Stripe checkout

Enter your card details and confirm. Prices are in USD.
The dialog footer also has an Upgrade to Premium button. That button starts a monthly checkout at the smallest conversation volume and ignores the switch and the slider. Use the button on the Premium card when you have chosen a volume or yearly billing.
Stripe returns you to Settings > Billing. The toast title reads Welcome to Premium! with the line “Your subscription is active.” If you leave checkout without paying, the toast reads Checkout canceled. and your plan stays Free. The same three plan cards also live on a standalone Plans page. Its subtitle reads “Choose the plan that fits your team.” On Free, the API Keys card under Settings > Integrations links to it with an Upgrade plan button.

Change the billing period on Premium

On Premium, the plan card shows a Monthly / Annual segment control next to a Change link. The Annual segment label includes the yearly discount percentage. Selecting the inactive segment or Change opens the Stripe billing portal in a new tab, where you change the subscription. The dashboard picks up the change from Stripe and updates the price and the Renews date on the card.

Cancel your Premium plan

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, not immediately.
1

Scroll to the bottom of the Overview tab

A Cancel subscription row reads “Downgrade to Free at the end of your billing period.” Select Cancel plan.
2

Read the Cancel your Premium plan? dialog

The dialog names the date you keep everything until. It then lists what ends after that date.
3

Confirm or back out

Select Cancel subscription to schedule the cancellation. Select Keep Premium to close the dialog with no change.
The dialog lists five losses:
  • Your paid conversation allowance ends and Free plan limits apply.
  • Advanced models revert to free models only.
  • Live-chat seats deactivate, so human agents cannot reply.
  • WhatsApp campaigns pause.
  • Conversation credits pause. Resubscribe within their validity to use them again.
After you confirm, a toast starting with Cancellation scheduled names the date Premium continues until. The plan card pill switches from Renews to Cancels with that date.

Undo a scheduled cancellation

While a cancellation is scheduled, a Cancellation scheduled row appears at the top of the Overview tab. It reads “Premium ends” with the date and has a Don’t cancel subscription button. Selecting it restores the plan and shows a toast that starts with Cancellation undone and confirms your Premium plan continues.

Enterprise

Enterprise organizations do not upgrade or cancel from the dashboard. On the plan cards, the Enterprise card shows Custom Pricing and a Contact sales button that opens an email to the Tars sales team. An Enterprise organization sees Contact sales to change on the other cards. When your Enterprise organization has an account manager, the Billing header shows a Contact account manager button to members who can manage billing. Selecting it sends an email and shows the toast Email sent to your account manager.

AI model access

The Free card lists basic models and the Premium card lists advanced models. When a Free organization selects an advanced model in an AI Agent gambit, the model picker opens the Explore TARS plans dialog instead of applying the model.

Verify

Return to Settings > Billing. The plan card shows the Premium badge, your price, and a Renews pill with the next renewal date. The Plan limits card is gone, and the header button now reads Manage billing.
